3G Network Shutdown

Prepare for the Mobile 3G Network Shutdown

As we continue to rely more and more on technology to stay connected and safe,
it's essential to be aware of changes in the networks that make this possible. One such change is the upcoming shutdown of the Mobile 3G network, which will occur in June 2024 for Optus and Telstra and Vodafone will turn off their 3G network earlier. If you or a loved one use a CareAlert 3G personal alarm device, it's crucial to prepare for this event and upgrade to a 4G device before the network closure. Our 4G devices are designed to provide ongoing assistance even after the 3G network is shut down, ensuring that customers can always stay connected with their loved ones or the CareAlert monitoring centre and receive help quickly in case of an emergency.

The shutdown of the 3G network is driven by the global shift towards future networks that can keep up with the growing demand for faster internet speeds, enhanced connectivity, and more advanced technological features. While it's natural to feel concerned about this change, it's important to remember that it's necessary to keep pace with the latest and most advanced technologies in the industry and ensure that customers have access to the best services.

At CareAlert, we understand that the closure of the 3G network may be particularly concerning for seniors who rely on personal alarms and medical alert devices. That's why we're here to assist existing customers in upgrading from a 3G device to a 4G device. We are committed to providing a reliable and secure solution to keep customers safe and give them peace of mind.

If you're not sure which device you have, don't worry - we're here to help. If you purchased your CareAlert device in 2020 or later, you more than likely already have a 4G device and don't need to take any action. If you're using a system purchased prior to 2020 you have a 3G device, it's essential to upgrade to a 4G device before the network closure. If you are unsure if what system you have, you can call us for confirmation.

The good news is that upgrading to a 4G device is easy and affordable. You can call us on 1300 75 85 95 to request an upgrade, and we'll work with you to ensure a smooth and hassle-free process. If you're an NDIS participant, ask your Plan Manager to get in touch with us, and if you have a Home Care Package, ask your Case Manager to organize an upgrade on your behalf.

We encourage all customers to upgrade to a 4G device as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted connectivity and access to advanced features.

At CareAlert, we're dedicated to providing the best possible service and support to our customers. If you have any questions or concerns about the Optus 3G network shutdown or upgrading your device, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
